Course Structure

Online First Aid Course

3 Hours

Access our modern e-learning platform from anywhere with internet access on your own devices including smartphone, laptop, or desktop computer, and complete the comprehensive theoretical training at your own pace

In-Person Training

2 Hours

Visit us at one of our Sydney locations for face-to-face training about the essentials of First Aid, use of a Manikin and AED (Automated External Defibrillator), sling application, bleeding management, trauma triage and much more

Complete Assessment

45 Minutes

Be assessed on your new First Aid skills such as:
Perform CPR on one Adult & one Infant Manikin
– Assess and manage a casualty suffering from a range of injuries
– Practical first responder techniques

Get First Aid Certification

Upon Completion

Pass the course successfully and we’ll register your new qualification under your USI number! You’ll also receive a digital download of your certificate on the same day which can be shared easily with employers

Marine First Aid Course Overview

Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to provide a First Aid response to a casualty while located in a Marine environment – such as on a yacht, boat, dock, marina, or a waterside business.

This course is perfect for those preparing to participate in a sailing or powerboat race, deckhands, crew, and captains too. It is also recommended if you are a boat owner, to be prepared for any emergencies while aboard.

Marine-Focused Training

  • Manage casualties in a wet marine environment
  • Prepare for water-based injuries such as drowning
  • Treat marine animal stings and bites
  • Improvise bandages and slings if supplies are low
  • Make Emergency Marine Radio Broadcasts

CPR

  • Deliver CPR safely to casualty
  • Obtain consent and permission
  • Perform manual rescue breathing
  • Perform chest compressions
  • Operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

First Aid

  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Follow the DRS ABCD action plan
  • Assess risk to patient and yourself
  • Manage Duty of Care to casualty
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Serious Medical Conditions

  • Manage asthma, anaphylaxis, choking, drowning, and shock
  • Control bleeding (cuts and nosebleeds)
  • Clean and dress non-life-threatening wounds and burns
  • Limit further harm in case of head, neck, or spinal injuries
  • Apply sling to a strain, sprain, or fractured bone
  • Envenomation and limb immobilisation
  • Poisoning, including liquid or gaseous chemical exposure
  • Exposure to heat (hyperthermia) or cold (hypothermia)
  • Manage other serious medical conditions
What time does the course run?

The course runs in the morning, beginning around 8:00AM

What do I need to bring?

Bring your ID (such as a NSW Drivers Licence, Passport, Medicare Card), a black or blue ballpoint pen, and comfortable practical clothing

Where is my e-learning login information?

You’ll receive this by email after you complete a booking – if you can’t find it, please contact us

Can I complete the certification entirely online?

The certification requires in-person physical assessment of your skills and cannot be completed entirely online – but it does save a lot of time to do the study first!

This course has no pre-requisite knowledge requirements.

All e-learning and theory assessment must be completed before attending the course in person.

Participants must be physically able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor (to simulate a real casualty), and to lift and manipulate the training dummy.

All training and assessment will be done in English, requiring basic levels of reading, writing, and language ability. Please contact us if you have any concerns.

Upon completion of this course, the following unit(s) will be issued by ABC Licence Training Pty LTD – RTO 3399

HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

Look around for any dangers present in the area

Does the patient respond to questions, or show signs of awareness?

Call 000 and ask them to send an ambulance for help

AIRWAY

Check the airway for obstructions, and assess if you need to reposition the patient

BREATHING

Observe about their chest – is the patient breathing?

CPR

If patient isn’t breathing, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using 30 compressions and 2 breaths

D

DEFIBRILLATE

Attach an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and follow the audio instructions
